Because we didn't have far to travel today (78 miles) we started out later than normal, 8:30.
The motel had almost nothing for breakfast, which is unusual, so we decided to go to McDonald's, only to find it only did drive thru, so Wendy's was next on the list and it was the same. Bob's Big Boy did serve inside but the parking lot was full and we didn't want to spend the time waiting to be served, so we left Ludington and started towards Frankenmuth. About an hour later we did find a McDonalds that we could eat inside, but breakfast was over and so it was lunch.
As we continued to drive we saw trees downed everywhere from the storm. One was laying across the telephone lines. I'm surprised they weren't snapped or the poles broken. Several of the towns we went through had no power, too. We just hoped Frankenmuth would be sparred and to our delight, it was.
Around 3pm we arrived at Frankenmuth. It's the most beautiful little town. All the buildings look Europeon and you feel like you stepped into a German Village of the past. It's especially pretty with flowers lining the streets. We separated and some of us went shopping while the others went to the motel to meet again at 5 and eat at the Famous Zehnder's Chicken Dinner restaurant.
Tomorrow we'll leave in the afternoon for Detroit, but before that the ladies are going back to shop! There's a lot more for us to see!
