On the Road Again

Once again we're off on another adventure in the Model A. This time we are traveling with 3 other cars. We met Thom Boche,Lee Oster and Evelyn DeSmet in Hudson for breakfast before going on to Richmond, WI to pick up Marc, Jackie and Matthew Rude.

The day was a beautiful sunny, blue sky day with temps in the 80's. We had no planned stops, but when we came to Gilman we saw a sign for a swinging bridge. It looked interesting so we stopped. The bridge was built in 1914 by a local blacksmith and the ironworks are still holding the bridge together today. We walked on the Gilman Cheese Mile through the Public Park to reach the bridge. The bridge was about 75 feet and really did gently swing as we crossed it. The bridge spanned the Yellow River. which ran through the town.

Wisconsin isn't in the drought we have in Minnesota. We saw ditches and fields with standing water and everything looked green.

The cars ran well all day without any major problems. We only had to pull over once when the brakes on Marc's car got hot after going up and down some long hills.

Tonight we stayed in New London and will take the ferry across Lake Michigan tomorrow.
